22 Conference Champions Crowned One Week Until NCAA Volleyball Bracket
With one week remaining until the NCAA volleyball selection show, 22 teams have won conference championships and punched their tickets to the NCAA tournament.
With less than a week remaining until the 64 teams of the NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament are announced, the pressure is mounting for every team in the country.
Some teams are handling that pressure with aplomb, such as Wisconsin, which handled Big Ten foes Michigan and Michigan State fairly easily this past week. Big Ten leader Nebraska has swept its last five opponents and is on a 14-match win streak.
Other teams find themselves cracking under the pressure. Former SEC leader Florida had a streak of eight straight sweeps before losing to Missouri in five on Sunday. The Gators are now No. 2 in the SEC behind Kentucky (22-6, 15-2).
Penn State lost to Ohio State, but OSU lost to Illinois. In the very scrambled Big Ten standings, PSU is tied for fourth with Michigan State, while Ohio State clocks in at ninth.
Western Kentucky defeated Rice in the Conference USA championship match in five sets to secure a bid to the NCAA tournament. The Hilltoppers have an overall record of 30-2 and rank 15th in the RPI list from November 21.

Conference champions were also crowned in 22 of the 32 Division I conferences, and as such 22 berths to the NCAA tournament have been secured. The remaining 32 will be determined through conference championships or the end-of-season standings later this week.
See the chart below for the list of those 22 champions.
