Mater Dei High School head girls' volleyball coach Dan O'Dell led his team to a victory over Mira Costa in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs. Mater Dei will next face Santa Margarita in the CIF State Championships. Santa Margarita has given Mater Dei three of its five losses in 2016, and Mater Dei is 0-3 against the Mustangs. But O'Dell can still see the bright side, saying his team will get to be the underdog, and that's an advantage.
