After years of journeying down the metaphorical #RoadtoRio, eight beach volleyball athletes and 24 indoor players hit the literal road to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

For some, like beach volleyball coach Andrew Fuller, the journey was all fun and games as he snagged an exit row seat next to U.S. water polo players Merrill Moses and Tony Azevedo.

But for beach volleyball competitors Nick Lucena, April Ross and Brooke Sweat, the trip got really stressful, really fast when their flight from Houston to Miami got delayed to the point they would miss their connection to Rio. American Airlines told them they wouldn't be able to get on a flight until August 6.

Luckily, Team USA sponsor United Airlines stepped in and got the threesome booked on a different flight.

The men's and women's indoor teams made the most of team processing in Houston.
