Eight Teams Remain in NCAA DIII Volleyball Tournament
The NCAA Division III women's volleyball quarterfinals will take place on Thursday, November 17. Learn more about the eight teams that remain in contention for the title.

Only eight teams remain in the hunt for the NCAA Division III women's volleyball championship.
Calvin College, which won the title in 2010 and 2013, is the highest-ranked team still alive in the 64-team bracket, but the No. 2 Knights will face their toughest challenge yet when they play No. 7 Emory in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
The quarterfinal matchup will mark the third time Calvin and Emory have played each other in the NCAA tournament. Calvin won both previous postseason matches, but the teams played twice in 2015 during the regular season and split.

No. 18 Northwestern-St. Paul took out the reigning champion and top-ranked Cal Lutheran in a five-set match that went to 16-14 in the fifth. Led by first team All-American Lindsey Peterson, the Eagles will now take on No. 13-ranked Eastern, which has swept all three of its tournament opponents after going 29-5 in the regular season and is led by five AVCA All-Region players.

On the opposite side of the bracket, Tufts, which did not rank in the most recent AVCA poll, defeated Springfield to advance to the quarters. The Jumbos will face No. 7-ranked Southwestern, which boasts a 30-4 record and is battled tested after coming through the most competitive region, defeating No. 8 Colorado College and No. 4 Texas-Dallas.

Washington University-St. Louis and Mary Washington will meet in the last match on Thursday. WashU has won an incredible 10 national championships, most recently in 2009. Mary Washington, however, has the higher ranking after it's 28-3 season. Freshman Savannah Powers leads the UMW squad and earned honorable mention All-American honors. Across the net on Thursday, she'll face WashU's All-American duo of Caroline Dupont and Rexi Sheredy.
