Santa Margarita Defeats Santa Fe Christian for CIF Regional Title
Santa Margarita defeated Santa Fe Christian in the CIF Southern California Open Division Regional Final.
Santa Margarita continued its dominance of Southern California high school volleyball with a victory over Santa Fe Christian in the CIF Southern California Open Division regional final.
The Eagles, led by outside hitter Meghan McClure, beat Santa Fe Christian 25-21, 25-20, 25-18, and will face Archbishop Mitty in the state championship match on December 3, 2016.
Santa Margarita had its work cut out for it with the nation's No.1 recruit Lexi Sun across the net. But the Eagles balanced offense, along with a triple block on the outside was able to slow her down.
"We played together, and that's what I think makes a championship team," head coach Katy Daly said. "They're peaking at the right time."
The battle with Archbishop Mitty looms large now for the Eagles. The two teams met in September at the Durango Fall Classic, where Mitty won 2-0. Watch the complete replay of that match below.
