The 16s Teams You Need To Know
A5 16-1 Gabe has put the rest of the country's 16s teams on notice. The Atlanta-area squad went 7-1 on its way to the title at the Triple Crown Sports National Invitational Tournament over Presidents Day weekend and a week later didn't lose a set on its way to the Beast of the Southeast championship.

Four of 16-1 Gabe's players are already committed to Division I colleges, including Ohio State-bound Gabby Gonzalez and Reilly MacNeill. Gonzalez and MacNeill, along with Auburn recruit libero Molly Pember and 6-foot-1 opposite Riley Spurlin, attend Walton High School, where they won a state championship in October.

Northern Lights of Burnsville, Minnesota, won the Asics Presidents Day Classic in Omaha, Nebraska, defeating Premier Nebraska 16 Gold 25-20, 25-15 in the final. Iowa commits Kyndra Hanson and Blythe Rients provide major firepower for this team, while UCLA recruit Marissa Hinkle holds it down at libero. Don't forget young talent Kennedi Orr, who's one of the setters on this 16s team as an eighth-grader.

Another team to keep an eye on as the season progresses is Aspire 16 Rox. The Tempe, Arizona, squad's only losses at the Triple Crown NIT were to Top Select 16 Elite, Sunshine 16 Westside, and Colorado Juniors 16 Shannon. The team finished the weekend with an impressive fourth-place finish and wins over San Gabriel Elite 16 Roshambo and LoneStar 16 Red.
