Gold Bracket Spots Secured At The 2017 JVA West Coast Cup

During day two of the 2017 JVA West Coast Cups, teams battled for their spot in the gold bracket.

Day two of the 2017 JVA West Coast Cup featured another round of pool play, with top teams from California, Texas, the Midwest, and all over the country battling for a chance to make it into the gold tournament bracket.
 
In the 18 Open division, 10 teams will advance to gold tomorrow morning, after exceptional performances in the second day of pool matches.

In a pair of play-ins, Top Select 18 Elite Blake will take on Temecula Viper 18 Rafu, while Coast 18-1, featuring Gatorade National Player of the Year Lexi Sun, will face Legacy 18 Elite. The remaining eight 18 Open gold bracket teams are:
 
  • A4 Volley 18 Purple
  • TAV 18 Black
  • Laguna Beach 18 MS
  • K2 18 Adidas Jota
  • Goldenwest 18 Asics
  • Munciana 18 Samurai
 
A4 Volley 18 Purple and K2 18 Adidas Jota head into elimination play without having lost a set in pool play.
 
The 18 Open championship match will be played at 12 PM PT on Court 25.
 
The 17 Open gold bracket kicks off at 11 AM PT, with Sunshine 17-1 vs. Rage 17 Gabe and SG Elite 17 Roshambo vs. Forza1 17 UA.
 
TAV 17 Black and Tstreet 17-Naseri earned the highest seeds into the elimination bracket and received byes into the second round.
 
The 17 Open championship match will take place at 2 PM PT on Court 25.
 
Sunshine 16 Westside headlined the 16 Open division, finishing the second round of pool play undefeated, having lost only one set all weekend. Sunshine and A4 Volley 16 Purple earned byes into the second round of the gold bracket, while Rage 16 Garren faces TAV 16 Black and Wave 16 Brent takes on Tstreet 16 Mike in the first round.
 
The 16 Open championship match is scheduled for 11 AM PT on Court 26.
 
In 15 Open SG Elite Roshambo 15-1 and Mintonette Sports m.51 will meet in the first round of the 15 Open gold bracket, as will undefeated Coast 15-1 and  Mizuno Long Beach 15 Rockstar.
 
Wave 15 Brennan rounds out the 15 Open gold bracket field with byes into the second round, along with Sunshine 15 Westside.
 
The 15 Open championship match will take place at 12 PM PT on Court 31.
 
In 14 Open, TAV 14 Black and Sunshine 14 Westside were the only undefeated teams through both rounds of pool play, with TAV 14 Black only losing one set to SG Elite Roshambo 14-1.
 
TAV 14 Black earned a bye into the second round, along with Tstreet 14-Carson. Coast 14-1 will face SG Elite Roshambo 14-1 and Sunshine 14 Westside will line up across the net from familiar foe Sunshine 14 South Bay.
 
The 14 Open championship match will be played at 11 AM PT on Court 31.
