USA Volleyball has announced the training roster for the 2017 USA girls' youth national team, and seven members from the 2016 squad have made the preliminary roster once again for this year's team.
The returners--Brooklyn Schirmer, Brooke Nuneviller, Ella May Powell, Logan Eggleston, Skylar Fields, Hayley Warner, and Kendall Kipp--will be joined by 13 other athletes at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO, from July 27 to August 17 for two weeks of practice. After that training period, the roster will be whittled down to 12, and those players will travel to Brazil to practice alongside the U18 teams from Brazil, Japan, and Italy before the FIVB Girls' U18 World Championships in Santa Fe, Argentina, on August 18-27.
Last summer's youth national team won a silver medal at the 2016 NORCECA Girls' Youth Continental Championship in Puerto Rico. A year earlier, the American squad took silver at the U18 World Championships, losing to Italy in the final.
