Kerri Walsh Jennings and Nicole Branagh forfeited the bronze-medal match at the FIVB Olsztyn Four Star event after Walsh Jennings dislocated her shoulder in the semifinals.

Kerri Walsh Jennings and Nicole Branagh forfeited the bronze-medal match at the FIVB Olsztyn Four Star event after Walsh Jennings dislocated her shoulder in the semifinals.
Walsh Jennings and Branagh were on a roll, advancing to the semifinals after entering the tournament through the country quota rounds and winning a match in the qualifier to make it into the main draw.
The American pair was in the midst of a comeback in the third set of the semifinal versus Canada's Melissa Humana-Paredes and Sarah Pavan, staving off two match points to tie the match at 14s, when Walsh Jennings pulled off the net and made a dig, but in doing so dislocated her shoulder on the hard-packed sand.
After a timeout during which the medical staff popped Walsh Jennings' shoulder back in place, the Canadians won the next two points to earn their spot in the gold-medal match.
Walsh Jennings and Branagh chose to forfeit the Olsztyn bronze-medal match in hopes of giving Walsh Jennings the best chance to recover enough to compete in next week's FIVB World Championships in Vienna.
According to the FIVB, while signing the bronze-medal match scoresheet Walsh Jennings told an FIVB official that she and Branagh will compete at the World Championships. Branagh and Walsh Jennings will spend the next few days in Hamburg, Germany, where Walsh Jennings will receive treatment for her shoulder.
