North Carolina's star outside hitter Taylor Leath hit negative with 12 kills and 13 errors, and the Tar Heels were playing without reigning ACC freshman of the year Julia Scoles, who is injured.
In the second match of the night inside the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum, Florida handily defeated NC State 25-17, 25-16 25-22.
Senior duo middle blocker Rhamat Alhassan and opposite Shainah Joseph led the team with nine kills each and no hitting errors, for hitting percentages of .750 and .600, respectively. As a team the Gators hit .354 to NC State's .172.
