Meet The 2017 Under Armour All-Americans: Heather Gneiting
First Team high school All-American Heather Gneiting's love for her home state helped her pick her college of choice.
Heather Gneiting says her home state of Utah is the prettiest place on earth. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons she chose to stay there for college.
The BYU commit also considered the University of Utah, but ultimately decided to be a Cougar.
Heather Gneiting
Position: Middle Blocker
Height: 6-foot-4
High School: Pleasant Grove (Pleasant Grove, UT)
Club: Club V
College Commitment: BYU
“I committed to BYU because of the culture that is there,” Gneiting said. “I’m also a member of the LDS church that BYU represents, and that made me want to go there. I saw myself there and fitting in like a puzzle piece.”
The 6-4 middle blocker from Pleasant Grove High School ranked second on her team this season with 319 kills while maintaining a .345 hitting percentage. She led the Vikings with 101 total blocks.
“Heather has the size and the power to be a really dominant middle blocker,” BYU head coach Heather Olmstead said. “She can attack off of one leg or two while consistently swinging high and hard with range.”
Gneiting led Pleasant Grove to its third consecutive state championship runner-up finish this fall, losing a five-set heartbreaker to rival Lone Peak in the final.
