USA Women Are One Win Away From Clinching Top Spot
The U.S. Women's National Team is just one win away from clinching the top spot in the inaugural VNL preliminary rounds.
A day after taking a rare lump in a loss to Serbia, the U.S. Women’s National Team swept Korea in the second-to-last VNL preliminary round match Wednesday in Santa Fe, Argentina, to improve to 12-2 overall.
The Americans have been alone on top of the VNL standings for some time—and remain there after the victory over the Koreans. More importantly, head coach Karch Kiraly's group is now just one win away from clinching the top spot in the VNL preliminary round.
Team USA can take care of that business against a last place Argentina squad that looks hopelessly overmatched. The match versus the host Argentinians begins at 6:40 PM ET LIVE on FloVolleyball.
The VNL Final Round is set, with only the seeding left to sort out, with Brazil, Serbia, Netherlands and Turkey rounding out a group that will include the U.S. and China. Despite a 7-7 mark, the Chinese will be the top seed as the host country for the event.
The Final Round will take place June 27-July 1 in Nanjing.
