Semifinalist Determined At 2017 Montreux Volley Masters
The four semifinalist of the 2017 Montreux Volley Masters were determined today as teams wrapped up pool play competition.
Coming out of Pool B will be Brazil and Germany, which each finished the preliminary round with a 2-1 record. Brazil earned the top seed out of the pool with seven total points since its two victories were in four sets, while Germany’s defeat of Brazil took the European team five sets.
Poland also finished 2-1 in Pool B, but failed to advance to the semifinals despite earning a big victory over Germany in the first match of the day. The Poles finished pool play with five points in third place, ahead of Thailand, which went winless in Pool B.
Argentina won Pool A, defeating Switzerland in straight sets on the final day of preliminary competition to complete it’s undefeated pool play performance.
China earned the second-place spot in Pool A to emerge to the semifinals where it will face Brazil.
Netherlands and Switzerland will compete in the classification matches tomorrow, along with Poland and Thailand.
