2024 Landmark Championship: Juniata Wins Every Set In Conference Play
Juniata's looked unstoppable so far this season, and the question remains if anyone will be able to. Scranton attempts to in the Landmark Championship.
The Landmark Conference Volleyball Championship goes to Juniata for yet another year as they defeat Scranton in a rematch of last year's Landmark Championship. A year ago, Scranton was able to pull away and steal a set, but this year Juniata left no doubt and dominated in a quick sweep.

Juniata's serving had Scranton scrambling nonstop as Scranton was unable to get any good looks offensively. Juniata outhit Scranton in all three sets, by 0.200 or more in the first two sets that they won by 10 and 11 points. What was incredibly impressive was the third set performance of Juniata's offense where they had a whopping 18 kills, an absolutely unreal number. Their serving pressure was unreal with numerous aces in all three sets with very few errors.
Juniata has always looked hard to beat, but a team will have to play nearly perfectly to knock off Juniata. The Eagles look like they're making history and look unstoppable, but only time will tell as the NCAA tournament starts.
Set 3: Scranton Makes It Close, But Unable To Steal It, Falls 20-25
Juniata wins the Landmark Conference Championship with a dominating 3-0 sweep, not dropping a single set in conference play this season. Despite losing the first two sets handily, Scranton did not roll over, putting up a huge fight to finish their conference season. Their hitting percentage improved immensely, jumping up to 0.323 with 11 kills and only 1 error. Still, Juniata was able to outhit them with a whopping 18 kills in the set, with only 2 errors. Having 18 kills in a singular set is simply unheard of and really speaks to the talent and legacy of this Juniata team. Scranton's success this set was found in their ability to get Repholz off the line quickly, as she had done so much damage to them in the previous set. But Juniata's unreal offensive performance coupled with some late service pressure from Sydney Ohl sealed them the victory and another Landmark Conference Title.
Set 2: Another Strong End To The Set For Juniata, Win 25-15
Similar to the first set, Scranton was able to keep it close for the first ten or so points of the set before Juniata went on a huge run with Sophia Repholz on the service line for another big run, this time four points. She was able to give Juniata a 21-13 lead that they rode to a 25-15 finish of Set 2. One very impressive thing about Juniata is their ability to quickly finish sets and really execute from the midway point of a set. The last points from 20 to 25 are the most crucial and Juniata is excellent at executing during that stretch whether it be a tied game or they are leading big. Juniata was really able to dial up the service pressure again, with Repholz having the Scranton passers completely out of sorts. Juniata hit at a whopping clip of 0.455 with 12 kills and only 2 errors on 22 attempts. The passing struggles for Scranton led to them being out of system the majority of the set again, giving them less than ideal looks when it came to offense. They struggled even more this set, with 7 kills and 6 errors on 24 swings. Unable to get clean swings against a defense as talented as Juniata is almost a recipe for disaster as Juniata never looked out of sorts or out of system.
Set 1: Juniata Comes Off To A Hot Start, Wins 25-14
Juniata wins the first set 25-14 in a pretty dominating fashion. They outhit Scranton 0.310 to 0.071 with 12 kills and only 3 errors as opposed to Scranton's 8 kills and 6 errors on 28 attempts. When playing a team like Juniata, every error is immensely costly and Scranton will have to clean up their hitting game if they hope to steal a set from them. Juniata was also able to really dial up the serving pressure with 5 aces to 2 errors while Scranton was really unable to get Juniata out of system. After Scranton took a 10-9 lead nearly halfway into set one, Juniata dialed up the pressure, going on a couple runs and taking a 16-13 lead. From there, Scranton was able to side out, but then Sophia Repholz got on the service line, got Scranton completely out of system, and lead Juniata on a 7-0 run.
